Day 7: Endure

By Pauline Peters (January 15, 2022)

Colossians 1:11
“…being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great ENDURANCE and patience…”
This year, as I was pondering on my 2022 word, my mind was drawn to the word “ENDURE.”  What does ”ENDURE” mean?  Merriam-Webster gives these definitions:  “To continue in the same state; to remain firm under suffering or misfortune without yielding; to undergo especially without giving in; to deal with or accept.”

For this year, I have purposed that I will ENDURE.  The past two years, for many of us, have brought tremendous hurts and losses.  A global pandemic, death of loved ones, marriage dissolution, betrayals, job losses, health issues, financial strain, and loss of social connections are just a few losses to be mentioned.

What I do intend for this year is to keep going, keep connecting, keep fighting the fight of faith, keep loving, keep believing, keep learning, keep trusting, keep forgiving, keep pursuing, and keep ENDURING.  I will not give in.  I will not give up.  I will not quit.

There have been many personal moments when the desire (and will) to quit has been overwhelming and so powerful.  And yet, there has been a resolve to “keep putting one foot forward.”  How can I not?  Life, despite its trials and troubles on times, is still worth living.  For me, there is only the option to ENDURE and to keep moving forward.

So friend, ENDURE! Don’t give up.  Stay the course.  Fight the fight.  There is good waiting for you from God.  He will give you the strength to keep going.  And when you do not have strength, He will send people who will lift you up and help carry the burden.  Let that be your story.  Let that inspire your song and life.  Keep going.

[PRAYER]

Lord, help me to endure; to keep going; to keep loving and having faith for miracles, even when things are hard. Thank you for the strength you give me today, and for your faithfulness. Thank you that you are faithful to complete the good work you have begun in me, and that you helping me to persevere. Amen!
