I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then follows it. It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built.
In South America, home construction is very different than in Canada. Most of them are aseismic structures, which means they are earthquake-resistant. The goal is to prevent death in case of a natural disaster. For instance, concrete and plastic rings are placed underneath to channel shockwaves around the houses.
Likewise, our lives are a house to be built. When a trial comes our way, the foundation of our house comes to realization. As you think about your “house,” is every area being built earthquake resistant?
Are we laying our house on our experience, human wisdom, or on a firm foundation? The fruit we bear during a trial reflects the foundation our lives have been built on. Is that fruit impurity, selfish ambition, envy, or hatred? To build our lives on the Rock (Jesus), we must take radical decisions that crucify the flesh. Some of the decisions will require discipline and time investment like praying, studying the Word of God, and attending church regularly; yet I assure you when the trial comes, our faith will be strong as a rock.[PRAYER]
