See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
Sometimes when we look at the headlines of what is happening in THE world, we neglect to notice the punctuation, or the “details” of OUR world. Stay with me here for a moment! What I mean is this: when we look at the big picture of what is happening today, it is easy to get anxious, overwhelmed, worried, etc. However, I believe that this is a time where we need to choose to see what is right in front of us. For example, what is God doing in your own family, group of friends, workplace, neighbourhood, personal growth, etc?
The prophet Isaiah tells us in chapter 43 that God is making “a way in the desert” and “streams in the wasteland.” It would be easy to just see the desert or wasteland, become overwhelmed, and miss the details of what God is doing: making ways, creating streams, bringing guidance, refreshment, direction, healing, and salvations.
God is working. God is moving. God is still on the throne. This past year may have been a year of disappointment for some, or maybe you’ve chosen to just “get through it.” Perhaps you’ve gotten overwhelmed and anxious through the many changes and ups and and downs. I challenge you to use this 21 days of Prayer & Fasting to ask God what He is doing or how He can use you in your world. Sometimes the seemingly small things can big the biggest impact. A small stream in the desert can bring new life to a desolate place. God does just that.
God, I know that you are ALWAYS moving and working in my life. My desire is that you would use me to reach the lost and hurting right in my own circle. Help me to be aware of what you are already doing and to partner with that. Draw me closer to you over these next 21 days so that I can point people to you! In your Holy Name, Amen!
