Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. He had him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command, and people shouted before him, “Make way!” Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt.
The blessing on Joseph’s life in this moment, seemed to be absolutely incredible. It was full of trophies and treasures!
He was given unparalleled authority to rule, and Pharoah’s own signet ring. He was adorned with robes of fine linen and a gold chain. A parade of honour was held to celebrate this exciting new season he was stepping into.
BUT – things were not always this way for him!
If you read through the stories of his journey, you’ll see it was LONG and HARD. There was a lot of agony. A lot of loneliness. A lot of pain. He was orphaned from his father, sold by his brothers, neglected in his pits and prisons, and even falsely accused.
SO – why the story of Joseph?
As we’re winding down our 21 days of fasting and prayer, I thought of his example. Joseph was so faithful, that he never wavered, no matter how hard things got for him. As a result, God made him so fruitful that he was always a blessing to those around him.
He blessed his family that played a role in his pain. He blessed his owner during his time as a slave. He blessed the prison where he was wrongly incarcerated, and he blessed Egypt where he eventually ruled.
How was this possible? Joseph may have struggled and suffered much, but he always remained steadfast. My hope and prayer, is that you will be able to take hold of your OWN trophies and treasures that God has for YOU on the other side of this fast!
Lord your word says that you are a rewarder of those who seek you. As I have been steadfast and faithful through this fast, help me to wait with expectation for breakthrough and blessings!
