Lamentations 3:22-23 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
I am not really a morning person, and my family and friends know this about me. Even though it may hurt fighting to get out of bed and start the day, I often find a quiet peace just before the sun comes up when I must be up early.
There is something amazing about how creation itself speaks to the glory and wonder of our God. The sun rises and sets each day and in the same way we can observe this natural phenomenon and find our God’s character speaking!
Just before the dawn begins to break forth, we find ourselves still in the dark of night. In one moment, everything is very dark; but then as sure as ever the light starts to inch upwards on the horizon as we begin the journey towards a new day! This may seem simplistic, but I want you to know God is faithful and you can look at the promise of the sun rising and setting to be reminded of just how faithful He really is. Even in the cold of night, there is a new day about to be born on the other side of the shadows. In nature’s crescendo on a clear day when that sun finally rises, it can be breathtaking witnessing that which was shrouded in darkness suddenly illuminated with the warmth and light of the sun.
You or someone around you may be in a season of darkness, but please know that with every night comes the promise of a new day; with mourning comes rejoicing, with discipline comes reward, and at the end of this fast there is something waiting for you. There is something on the other side of adversity and challenge. He is a consistent God who does not fail, and his promises are yes and amen. I am believing alongside of you today that a new day, new mercies, and more glory is coming.
God thank you for the wonder of your creation. I praise you today knowing that you are faithful and keep your promises. You are my hope Jesus and I pray that you would help me to trust you my light and guide amid dark nights. I receive your new mercies and steadfast love today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
