Day 18: Worth the Wait

By Pastor Foyo Juma – Kitchener Campus (January 26, 2022)

Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those that wait upon the LORD, will renew their strength.  They shall soar on wings like eagles; They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.

Take a moment to look back on God’s sustenance through the last 17 days.  If you have kept the fast thus far, then let this be a day of celebration.  God’s Spirit has sustained you, and your life is proving the Scripture that says “man does not live on bread alone, but by every Word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4).

Celebrate this moment: enjoy and take pride in this day, praise God, cheer yourself and those fasting with you on, and be encouraged as you continue. If you have struggled, and even given up on the fast, then let this be a day of returning.  We can fail, stumble, and be completely unable to move toward God in the manner that the discipline of fasting requires. However, we only need to look toward Him again and His Holy Spirit will pick us up and set our feet on the right path.  If in this moment you’ve given up the fast, then let the next moment be you taking it up again.  There is grace in our pursuit of God to begin again.

So today, embrace discipline, and discover the pure joy and true satisfaction of denying yourself to take a hold of the things of God.

[PRAYER]
Holy Spirit, You are worth it.  We long to draw closer to You and perceive You more clearly.  Thank you for carrying us thus far.  May you fill and fortify each of us for the remaining days ahead.  Amen.
