Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
“Don’t make promises you don’t intend to keep.” We have all been a giver and a breaker of promise(s). Years of dashed hopes and broken promises have left people hesitant to trust each other. However, there is One in whom we can trust. Scripture is overflowing with promises that reveal God’s love and care for humankind- 7,487 verses to be exact (Herbert Locklear-author)!
“Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall”. (Psalm 55:22)
What an incredible verse! God reminds us that we can (approach Him with confidence) give our burdens to him. We were never meant to be weighed down by the cares of this world, yet inevitably we do. We are called to live a life of freedom that is found in Christ. Once we give our burdens to the Lord, He promises to care for us! He sustains us with what we need, our daily bread, shelter, clothes, salvation, peace of mind and heart. Whatever we may need, God promises to provide according to His Word.
Even more, His protection and covering is over us and all round us. This verse also promises that God will not “permit the godly to slip and fall.” We aren’t exempt from the challenges of life, BUT when they come we can remain steadfast and secure, because the God who said he will care for us can be trusted to keep His promises. We serve a God who gives beauty for ashes, strength for fear, gladness for mourning, and peace for despair.
What are you in need of today? Can I encourage you to give it to God, because He has promised you a life beyond what you could imagine in exchange? He is a promise keeping God!
God, when the concerns of life seem very overwhelming, thank you for being with us and carrying our burdens. Regardless of what we have done, you promise to never leave us alone or forget about us. We love you God and we surrender all our plans and dreams to you this day and ask that you would continue to lead us, surround us with your presence, and fill our hearts with your love. We give You praise, In Jesus Name -Amen!
