Day 11: Spiritual Wednesday

By Pastor Sean Brophey (January 19, 2022)

Today is the Wednesday of week two of our prayer and fasting, and at this point I bet you are starting to feel the fight within that much more intensely. There is just something about Wednesdays that represent the uphill battle of getting to the weekend. We are getting closer to relief, but it also feels far away at the same time. At this point you may be feeling the desire to give up and let go of all your progress.

Paul encouraged the Corinthian church in the truth that even though we walk in the flesh, we do not wage war in the flesh. Instead, we wage war spiritually “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds“(2 Corinthians 10:4). His Word tells us we have access to divine power to destroy a stronghold! If you have been feeling like the battle has been too much the last few days maybe it’s time to access that divine power. You and I can only fight with our flesh for so long before our own carnal nature gives up the fight. Paul also gives more advice to practically deal with strongholds and negative thought patterns (see 2 Corinthians 10:5).

Next time you feel like giving in, pay attention to the thoughts that are rising within you. Take a moment to evaluate them and siphon them through the word of God to test their source and dispose of the ones that don’t contain the knowledge God would want you to have!

Sometimes Wednesdays are the best days for taking down strongholds.

God give me strength to take captive every thought that would set itself up against your Word and will for my life. I pray that you would give me your divine power to demolish every stronghold in my life during this fast. Help me to trust in your word over my own thoughts and feelings. In your name! Amen
