Day 11: Winning Your Battle

By Noelia Orantes (January 27, 2021)

2 Chronicles 20:18-19
“And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem Jehoshaphat Then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with voices loud and high.”

Do you ever look around at all that is happening in our world today, or even within your own life, and feel fear take over your heart and thoughts. I think it’s a feeling we’ve all faced at some point in our lives especially now.

That’s exactly what happened with King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20. Jehoshaphat was in an overwhelming situation. Three countries had come together, forming a massive army to attack his much smaller country of Judah. Jehoshaphat didn’t fall apart.

I am inspired and challenged by how he chose to react to his overwhelming circumstances: “Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the LORD, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah” (2 Chronicles 20:3).

King Jehoshaphat prayed to the Lord, him and his people fasted, trusted and praised the Lord BEFORE the battle was won. What I love about this chapter is the absolute trust king Jehoshaphat has in the Lord. He’s scared, but he knows what his GOD can do, so he bows his head to the ground and prays.

God responded by saying that they wouldn’t have to fight, for this war was His and He himself would give them victory. Jehoshaphat sent out an army of praisers and they began praising the LORD ALOUD. When they began singing praises, God ambushed the enemies and they were defeated.

If you’re feeling lost or weary, lift your head and worship the Lord with all your heart. Apply His Word, and walk according to His ways. Be guided by his Holy Spirit, and strengthen yourself in prayer and fasting, for great are God’s promises in your life.

My friends there is power in PRAISES. Lift up your voice, raise your hands and worship. It will change how you feel. It will change the circumstance, chains will break, and you will see the storm differently. The Lord will send his angels to fight this battle, the victory will be yours.

Holy Spirit, teach us to persevere in prayer and praise through this second week of fasting. May we always lean on you for direction, wisdom, and guidance. Jesus help us to stay strong and faithful until the victory comes. To you all the glory! I stand on Your Word in Jesus name amen.
